The Heritage Collection

ORIGIN

Both founders of Steven Blanco were born in Africa (Mozambique and Nigeria) but came to the Netherlands when they were just young kids. The journey of moving to the western world was not easy, trying to integrate into a different society and culture without neglecting their origins and diminishing their cultural identity.

For this collection, we created a connection between Steven Blanco and our cultural heritage as the concept of each clothing line. The Heritage collection has a very special place in our heart since we developed it to buy a homage to our motherlands.

The collection: HERITAGE

The Heritage Collection is a tribute to our African roots and culture.

Inspired by elements from the art of the Kingdom of Benin (now Benin city, Nigeria) and Makonde art (Mozambique), we created the designs with a modern twist and hand-painted look without disrupting the cultural nature of those artifacts. Each piece is diverse and unique, combining earthy and grounding colors that showcase the richness of African culture.

MISSION

African art and visual culture often go forgotten and underappreciated. We aim to increase awareness and showcase African art through artworks that resemble our cultural background. We would like to connect our community through cultural diversity and inclusivity, breaking down those walls of unfamiliarity and ignorance. Ultimately, we promote positivity and our love for all arts and cultures.

This collection is dedicated to those people with diverse identities that can relate to our story, wear the pieces confidence and pride while staying authentic to their true self and standing out from the crowd.

This line values increasing knowledge, awareness, and acceptance of other cultures so understanding the diverse cultural identities in a community and the world.

This line cherishes understanding one another by surpassing simple tolerance to ensure people truly appreciate their differences. It spreads the message of empowering people by respecting our diversity and richness of cultures in the world.
